Reiki Session
Reiki is a meditative practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety, and promotes a positive mental state through gentle touch. Rei means Universal or Life and Ki means energy, so we have Universal Life Energy as a definition.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that may also promote healing. It is administered by laying on hands or hovering hands above the body. It is based on the idea that life force energy flows through us. The goal is to relieve stress that has built up and to balance our your energy centers. This balance is essential to achieve wellness of mind, body, and spirit. Reiki works in harmony with all other kinds of treatments.
One's own mind, body, and spirit do the healing. The practitioner simply facilitates the Universal Life Energy transfer to you. Reiki is in infinite supply. It never runs out. This is a great article on Reiki Sensations - A Practitioner's Perspective.
What to Expect
A session feels like a wonderful, glowing radiance and has many benefits for both client and practitioner, including positive states of consciousness and spiritual experiences. Reiki relies on an open mind, an open heart, and an open path where energy may flow unfettered.
The appointment lasts 30-60 minutes, depending on the service, plus some prep conversation. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes to the appointment. It's a good idea to drink lots of water before and after the session. The recommended amount is to divide your weight in pounds by two and drink that number of ounces of purified water every day.
Sometimes the experience of energy work is dramatic, while for others the first session may be uneventful, although they feel better or more relaxed afterwards. Please see Detoxification for additional information.
